Better Teams

I'm very amused by all this talk of "the better team" when it comes to football (that's soccer for you americans out there). It always makes me laugh how people say that "the better team won" or "the better team lost". There are no points for trying people! The team that wins goes forward and becomes champion. So-called "betterness" is irrelevant and is most often used to make the losing team feel better. Sort of like... "you lost, but its not so bad... you were the better team." Pretty lame if you ask me.
