The Lizard Chase

There was a moderately sized unstable looking lizard in my room last night. I generally don't mind lizards around but this particular creature seemed to be literally tottering along my wall with its legs splayed out in all the wrong directions and I'd rather not have shocked reptiles falling on me in the dead of night.

Non-violent person that I am, I first tried trickery to remove the wretched reptile from the premises. I aimed my recently acquired (and highly entertaining) laser pointer at a point just at the tip of its nose (taking care to always avoid the eyes of course.... no lizards were rendered blind in the writing of this post) and moved it around a bit. As I suspected, the poor silly creature thought it had come across a bite to eat, or at least that this constantly jumping spot of light was worthy of further investigation. I was able to guide it out of my room through a window that was ajar... I assumed this was the thing's point of entry in the first place so I closed the window and returned to my PC.

Two hours later I turned out the lights and was just about to get into bed when I saw a black smudge on the wall. I turned the lights on again and lo and behold, the persistent little devil was back. It had to be the same one because the legs were splayed at impossible angles and I can't imagine two lizards looking like that. Cursing under my breath, I flung my door open and headed out to find the ultimate anti-chipkali weapon... the jharoo. Non-violence be damned. I've used the jharoo to chase off countless unwanted lizards all though college because my room-mate went into fits of apoplexy if a lizard was in the room. It is easy to use and is a tried, tested, and, for a lizard, a rather fearsome weapon. Shortly I returned to my room armed with the jharoo and after a ten minute long harrowing crusade to convince the stubborn, dull witted, and, by now, thoroughly terrified creature that I didn't want it around, I managed to get rid of it, through another window that was slightly ajar. Having closed off this entrance and carefully checked all other entry points I fell asleep. To my knowledge, it did not return. Victory is sweet.
